A great new site with outstanding instructional material for new oud players. Lots of excellent information and sound files to get anybody going with the oud.
Astrid's Site (oudinfo.de)
A great German site about the oud. Lots of information, and also a step-by-step section on oud building. Watch Astrid build her third oud, and see pictures of the first two she has made.
The Oud - David Parfitt's Website
One of the first online oud resources ever available on the Net. A must bookmark for any avid oud fan! One can find an abundance of great information here. I learned how to restring my oud from the diagrams on David's site.
Afif Taian
Afif Taian is a fantastic oud player who is originally from Syria. He now lives in California, and he performs with the Kan Zaman Ensemble. This website was developed by one of his most dedicated fans.
Ain Arab - Oud Construction
Follow Jameel Abraham's project, and see detailed photos on how to build an oud. I have really enjoyed seeing the work that goes into making this beautiful instrument.
John Bilezikjian - Dantz Records
A great website for master oudist, John Bilezikjian. His music is noted for incorporating many diverse elements, such as folk, classical, Near Eastern and Western. He has been performing for over 40 years, and you can learn more about this great entertainer, musician, singer, composer and teacher - and more importantly human being - on his website.
Dr. Oud's Website
A website for the most helpful oudmaker on the Net. I don't know how many times I've emailed Doc with oud questions. Check out his oud construction book too. It is a must read for all oud lovers!
Nikos Dimitriadis
This is a very fine website with concise, yet informative information about the oud and about the webmaster's conversion from guitar to oud. Nikos really did a nice job on his website.
Dimitris Rapakousios - Luthier/Oud Maker
Check out this website to see the amazing work of the Greek master luthier, Dimitris Rapakousios. He uses the finest materials, and it is evident that he works with much attention to detail. You can also hear examples of some of his instruments.
Iraqi Oud Tradition
If you want to learn about Iraqi ouds, then this is the site for you. Ronny has done a great job with his site, and he has lots of excellent photos for Iraqi ouds.
Munir Bashir
A very nice site for the oud master, Munir Bashir. You can find a small biography about him, many nice pictures of him, and a detailed list of all his CDs available on the market.
Classical Arabic Music
An excellent new website that presents a diverse number of examples representing the various Arabic maqamat, forms and rhythms. Also, selected educational information about the musical structure, history and musical instruments of Arabic music.
Issa Boulous
Issa Boulous is a Palestinian oudist now living in Chicago, Illinois. Check out his website to find out more about this oudist, composer, and teacher. You can find MP3s, sheet music, and possibly contact information if you are looking for lessons in his area.
Nazih Ghadban
Visit this site to learn about the Lebanese oud maker, Nazih Ghadban. There is a nice page that shows some of the ouds that you can order from him if you are in the market for an Arabic oud.
Viken Najarian
Visit this site to see what you can get from the master oud maker, Viken Najarian. If it is electric ouds that you want, then check him out. He also makes great traditional ouds too!
Kan Zaman
Visit this site to find out more about a local ensemble of volunteer musicicians who perform classical Arabic music. The artistic director is Wael Kakish, who also doubles as my oud teacher!
Maqam World
A great site outlining the maqamat used in classical Arabic music. An excellent resource with explanations of many maqamat, the art of modulation, and various forms like samai, bashraf, dawr, dulab, and more.
Husain Sabsaby
Husain Sabsaby was born in Syria. His father gave him his first music lesson at the age of six. He would enroll in the Arabic Institute of Music in Halab, and then continue his musical journey being tutored by Mr. Mohammed Abdul Kareem, "Prince of Bouzouki".
Salem Abdel Karem
I don't know much about Mr. Abdel Karem, but he included a clip of a Farid el-Atrache song in the audio section of his site. So I had to include him in my links page!
Andy Kasparian - The Oud
A very cool site by Andy where you can read a brief history of the oud, and also see pictures of Andy's ouds...some of them he BUILT HIMSELF!!! Way to go Andy. Many oud links here too.
Pablo's Oud Page
A very nice oud website by Pablo Gonzalez. Pablo is from Argenitna, and on his site there are lots of great resources and links anybody interested in the oud can benefit from.
Maqam Music
A great resource for purchasing all kinds of Arabic music, movies, DVDs, and even some instruments. They also have a great selection of Oud CDs to choose from as well. What I like about this site is that you can hear samples for most of the CDs prior to purchasing.

A great site that I frequently visit. There is where you will find extensive links to Oud related sites. This site also has an active Message Board with interesting discussions.
Ukulele World - Oud Strings
An excellent one-stop resource for ordering Aquila, GHS, and/or LaBella Oud strings. Their prices are very reasonable as well.
Haytham Safia
Haytham Safia is a fabulous, young oud player who is originally from Palestine. He now lives in the Netherlands, and he performs regularly at various venues. He is in the process of releasing his second CD.

Kamil Shajrawi
Kamil is a multi-talented musician. In addition to playing the oud, the violin and singing, he is also a composer and orchestrator who has his own distinctive style.

Basem Darwisch
Basem was born in Egypt, and he started playing oud and guitar at the age of 12. He studied classic music at the Arabic music academy in Cairo. He represented the University in different festivals and won a prize for the best oud player in 1985 and 1986.
Thabet al-Basry
A new website which is currently just a forum for the Iraqi oudmaker, Thabet al-Basry. Website is in Arabic, but should be useful and informative.
