Hey Guys
I was wondering How are Samir Azars ouds and is there any
advise in case of wanting to order an oud from him?
which style of his ouds are usually better?how are the
prices?Does he ship oversies?........Is there anything special about his work (positive ir negetive) that I could be aware of?
and how would you compare Samir ouds with Sukars?Once they are both syrian oud makers.
Thanks

Last fall I had the chance to buy a used Azar floating bridge oud in Germany ... so yes, he shipped "overseas". It was of fine quality and had a very
good sound, but I found out, that I prefer fixed bridges. So I didn't buy it. BTW ... the seller wanted to sell this oud, because he had the chance to
buy a "historic" oud.
Regarding the comparison to Sukar ouds I think they are both very good, but the Azar ouds might be a better choice to Sukar's cheaper models. On the
other hand Sukar ouds have an adjustable neck.
Regarding prices I would recommend sending Samir Azar an email to discuss prices or if you want a hardcase too, floating or fixed bridge ... I heard,
he's a very friendly man, who btw is also a user in these forums

Salaam Ya Ali,
I few years ago, I contacted Samir to build me a walnut oud (58.5 cm). I was so impressed with it to the point of finding it VERY difficult to let go
every time I play it.
A couple of years ago, I asked Samir to build me another Seysam oud (60.5 cm). I had to wait for 6 months until he finally got to mine.
Both ouds are WELL-MADE with SUPURB workmanship. He builds them by himself.
They are EXTREMELY powerful with excellent sustain. The sound is the BEST you would expect from an oud.
Samir might not agree with me when I mention this. However, it is the truth.
He is one of the BEST oud makers in the world.
