I do wish the soundfiles were not hosted on a site that sneak-loads intrusive advert popups.

dear michael and friend oudist,
i have got aleady the replicas of nahat and abu khalil al gohari which have been the fullfilment of my music and art fantasies. The umkolthoum copy is another wonderful hit made exotically of bamboo front and back-but it is too big and deep for me to handle-being small with a bit of a belly- I am pariculaly after moussa's base oud which i heard in an english band performance 2 years ago- astonishingly it has the same tuning like conventional ouds but 2 octave lower. the player overcame the diffculty of the long neck by using gut frets includind the microtones- unfortunaley michael moussa is not making any in the near future- i am interested if anyone wants sell his base oud or even rent it for few months . about the sound clips and photos they are available convientlly from his website ta

Markus- thanks for your input

I recently got to Know Michael moussa and he is one of the friendliest and most genuine people you will ever meet.

I have had the great pleasure of playing all the ouds in the pics above at his home on more than one occasion in my search for a new oud.

They are the finest ouds I have ever seen or played made with great attention to detail, excellent craftsmanship using top quality materials. Each oud has its own personality they all sound and feel unique and when you pick one up you never want to put it down.

Bibo10 the oud in pic 1 is no longer available its my new oud I bought it about a month ago :D I could not help but fall in love with the sound and playability of the Zebrano Abu Khalil Aljohari and It just keeps getting better and better as I fall deeper in love. lucky me;)

I will post some new pics and sound files for you to admire as soon as I get a chance.

I haven't met Mr. Moussa yet, but spoke to him plenty of times and I must say he is an amazing person. I am going to london late august and will do my best to visit him. He is such a welcoming person, very warm.
Hey any ideas how to get from london to where Michael lives is more than welcomed ;)

I also like the oum kalthoum oud alot...very deep oud and traditional arabic, just how i like it...maybe because its named after EL SET haha

So here it is, these are the prices for the ouds posted here and the ones on Michael Moussa's website. Please note these prices include a $250 for the shipping (to north america) and full value insurance. Michael doesn't mind if the buyer makes the shipping arrangements himself online, then the price would be reduced by $250.

egyptian ebony with mother of pearl $1700
all the other styles including munir bashir iraqi, umcalthum replical, syrianstyle, bass oud, are at $1250
