HI all

Just wondering...

Has anyone made an attempt to capture Soumbati's taqsim Nahawand on paper i.e. sheet music?

A study of six improvisations on the `ud by Riyad al-Sunbati
by Roustom, Kareem Joseph M.A., Tufts University, 2006, 179 pages; AAT 1433667

It costs $37 to download or $44 to have the paper mailed to you.

I've been working on the Bayati taqsim - it's a great excercise to learn about modulations, as well as general technique! :airguitar:

I should have mentioned that four of the taqsims transcribed in the paper are available on the Oudism page in RealAudio format.

HI SM

Thanks for that.

His taqsim are truly wonderful. I listen to them most days . I'm particularly interested in his Nahawand, Hijaz kar (can't get enough of HK) and Rast.

Cheers
