Thanks My friend,

I managed to download the whole book via your link,
Although it doesn't have musical notes for the maqams discussed but it is a good reference to maqams.
Alfaraby try it again, if it doesn't work give us a shout I can try and forward it to as an attachment.

Thanks again myeyes2020

It seems that this book is about the poetry form of Maqamat.
It has nothing to do with music
Maqamat are funny long poems where the poet travels from one region to the other, troubadour style, the most known being maqamat Badih Al Zaman Al Hamadhani and Maqamat Al Hariri.
Maqamat are considered as a less noble and more popular form of poetry.

Slam all,

You're correct Alami this is, and as referred to in the book are Asfar "travels", when I made my comments yesterday I was at work and didn't have a chance to go through the book and was optimistic rather :D from the picture of the oud and references to maqams I thought its the musical maqams :)).
my apology's guys, but anyway its a good read about the old art of travel and poetry in those old shiny days of the Arabian heritage :(
