Backing Track

Hello everyone,

I am new to playing Oud and I finally found a teacher in the Maryland/DC area. So far I have just learned the Hijaz and Shahnaz maqamat.

I was interested in seeing if anyone knew of some middle eastern/arabic percussion backing tracks I could listen to in order to practice over?

Thank you!

Hi, and welcome!

At the play bouzouki forum there are some percussion tracks for greek rhythms that you can play along to. I'm sure some will fit arabic styles (like syrto and cifteteli for example).

If you can find a copy of Darbuka, it's a percussion VST that integrates with a DAW, where you can set up an interesting series of changes. But it can be run as a standalone and it has many useful built-in rhythms.
