Looking for info on my grandfathers antique oud please

jiddojimmy - 2-21-2012 at 06:04 PM

I have had for many years an oud I received through my family that had originally belonged to my grandfather's brother... so the story goes. I have little knowledge about ouds overall. As far as I can tell it appears to be hand made and the inside shows a kind of news print... as a liner of sorts perhaps?
Is there any special place on it, characteristic of a date or maker's mark? I appreciate in advance any and all help.

This looks like a nice oud. I would guess that it's from around the 1950s give or take. Where do you live? Maybe someone can look at it in person and help figure out the mystery.

The label looks like it's saying "...in London" (the only bit I could read, maybe someone can see better).

I think your oud was made by gamil georges because of the style of decorations but without better pictures of the label we cant tell for certain
