Last year we were 45 students in Yurdal's seminar.
This summer I will go again. Many of the intending ones most probably are not members of this forum. Don't worry!!! We will be at least 45 or 50 in lovely Houdetsi :applause:

It was a joke to produce a reaction ;)

Nice to meet you over there.

Hi,

My friend and I will be attending, we are planning to spend a couple of days visiting Athens first before heading off to Crete.

Does anyone have any experience with carrying a oud (or any musical instrument) on board with Aegean airlines?

Thanks

Ahmed

Hi ahmed

I am also worried to carry my oud with me.I found an article on their site for this situation(bottom of the page)

http://en.aegeanair.com/travel-information/baggage/special-baggage/
In theory that means they don't accept to carry an oud because it's to big !

On the other side i am sure they see regulary musicians carrying special baggage and they allow to pass ...

If anyone can testify !...

Hi Sylud,

Thanks a lot for your reply, yes the 55cm maximum length is a bit restrictive but let's hope in practice they are more lenient.

I recently flew with my oud on Turkish airlines, which I was allowed to carry on board without any issues; looking in the forum it seems to be the case with most airlines, so fingers crossed....

So see you on the 27th of August then!

I travelled with Aegean Airlines in 2007 when I attended the workshop.
I took the plane in Heraklion to Athens and I took my oud in the plane without any problem. By the way, I never had any problem with any airlines companies : Aegean (1x), Turkish airlines (1x), Ryanair (2x), Germanwings (4x).
I hope it will be ok for you.

Merci beaucoup Robert!

Thanks, that's very good to hear. I'm really looking forward to this seminar.
By the way, if you have any recommendations as to what to see/do outside the seminar period around Heraklion or Athens, I'll be more than happy to hear, considering it will be my first time in the area :)

Thank you Microber !

Your testitfy is reassuring.
I am sure they use to accept musician with an oud in hard case if we have nothing more. No backpack , no pod, nothing !...
