Hallo guys!
I am going to northern India for a couple of months and thinking of the very vast islamic influence, I was wondering wheter there's any oud scene
there (teachers, concerts etc..).
Thank you in advance!

I've got one oud in storage in Calcutta, and another up in Dharamsala... they've been there for 15years... could you drop past and see if they are
still there?

I lived in in India for an extended period and have spent a total of about 4-5 years there over the course of 21 trips to the subcontinent; I teach
and perform classical Indian music along with playing the oud...I can say with confidence that there is no significant oud scene in India. Although
the oud and its variants were present in early Mughal India, the instruments is not at all common in India today. However, as and oud player I
especially enjoy the sarod, an instrument related to the oud and Afghani rebab. If you can find any concerts with this instrument I would encourage
you to attend!
Have a great trip and feel free to U2U me for any travel advice if you need it.
Best, Amos
