Who's this maker?

Chris_Khouri - 11-3-2004 at 06:31 AM

The Add in ebay says he's one of the most famous in Egypt. They give very favorable information about him. I have heard about him from several friends. The ouds he make "look" really professional. What is your opinion about this dude ouds?

hi....

I really don't advice to buy this oud. first the seller didn't identify which "Ahmed"......there are alot of Ahmeds who make ouds.....like Ahmed Abdulhaleem and Ahmed Shehatah...etc.............second.....the oud looks proffesional, but does it sound proffesional........ i think the sound of oud will be very low and very sleep kind of thing....... from the way it looks and the way the wood is made.....

think about it wisely......because i already bought two ouds from ebay.....and each one is worse than the other.......

The ouds look great on the picture......but buying an oud with hearing it is a big risk......you might be lucky though.....

take care

Thank you San3any for the advice. You're right the oud look professional, but as for the sound, nobody can tell until he hears it himself.

but it does look good though :)

Hilal, if you are looking for an oud, check up an iraqi maker working in Jordan, his name is Hisham El-Hashem.
Yosef Al-Awwad told me about him, and showed me an Bashir-model oud made by Hisham, and it was a master peace.

Since you live in Jordan, you should check this guy up.

Thanks Walkad

Thanks Walkad,

Unfortunately, I dont live in Jordan and haven't been there for ten years. Is this maker Jordanian? Where can I find pictures of his ouds? Also what price does he charge of his ouds usually?

I bought a fadel oud from Jordan that has a very nice sound to it, I am gradually starting to believe that it is a replica.....

:(

Chris

No offense, but it looks like a tourist oud to me.

No this guy is iraqi, I swa one of his ouds in Baghdad, the oud was not for sale, but it was something around 500$.

I was told that he has a workshop in Jordan and that he's beginning to get famous there.

Indirectly I was hoping that you could get me in contact with him, since I thought you lived in jordan.
