hi alexi and thanks , the ribs are 70cm long and 5 cm Width at the highest point i used the khalaf construction http://www.khalafoud.com/Jameel_OudConstruction2.htm

after you cut the rics and bent them , then start to sand them on a sanding table ( a few sanding paper on mdf ) .
i cant tell you more then that because its my first oud and i'm building it in my kitchen:D. good luck

He has mentioned before and on his site that is Ivory. I am not sure it is possible (definately very expensive if you find) to find pre trade ban ivory in big enough quantity to make a fingerboard.

now days, people either use Camel or Buffalo bones to make the fingerobard. I am not sure if its possible to make it in one peice. probably not but would have to research which part of the animal anatomy would work. Also a Whale bone could probably work if you can find one.

Bones are not usualy bright white, some treatments exist such as bleaching to make it very white.

There are other materials which could work such as treated and engineered woods and byproduct materials.

I would not use plastics as they will wear very fast.
