alembic1989 - 4-8-2013 at 02:28 PM

Hello to all members..I'm am new to the forum, and a beginner on the instrument.
I live in the UK and I'm looking for another (nicer oud). I am lucky enough to have an oud maker in the UK..a very nice man by the name of Michael Moussa...Has anyone had experience of playing his instruments, and could anyone give me an opinion on his work.
I would be very grateful for any insight into his ouds.
best regards to all.

I consulted him back several months ago when I was in the market for custom oud and he was truly incredible. Answered all my questions, was extremely kind, gave me great advice and steered me in the right direction. From what I have read from others, his ouds are really good as well.

I love the sound - especially when I can manage to keep the instrument from falling off of my lap. The bowl back is a strange, strange feeling to a guitar player.

Hi again,:wavey:

have you ever seen how the Trio Joubran brothers hold the oud with the left leg crossed. It is unusual but gives the oud a very stabile rest(?), and the left hand is only for playing not for holding the oud.
I tried it, but unfortunately I can not sit like this longer than 30 min.

But maybe you can? Its worth a try anyway.

Cheers

Marcus

You will just get used to it after a while - I was the same, also you stop trying to look at the finger board after a while so the oud face remaims more vertical

I agree, Michael Moussa is a true craftsman with the highest integrity. Discuss what you are looking for in an oud, ask questions, and when you both understand what it is YOU require, let him create it for you. best, MW
