I am very happy, calay was still working on it when i came in to pick it up. There were two professional players who tried my oud and made some comments, after which calay worked some more on the fingerboard.it's perfect now

?no one with questions, not even about the 8 course oud?

They both look beautiful, especially the Turkish one. I hope to own an oud like this one day. How is the eight course one tuned? And do you have recordings making use of all the strings?

Hi Lysander,
the 8 course is my teacher's, Mehmet Polat. I don't have recordings of this oud, but he had another one before this, maybe there are performances of his with that oud on youtube. I don''t know what the tuning is, I'll ask him. The 7th and 8th string are very heavy, it feels and sounds like playing a bass guitar. It is amazing, my next oud will definitely be like that

There are several recordings with his former 8 course oud. Look at Mehmet Polat Trio, live at Pletterij,Haarlem, the Netherlands, at 4.25 min. Unfortunately I can't find anything where he uses the bass strings

Mehmet tunes in straight 4ths so probably the lowest string on that instrument is G#

Didn't Mehmet recently have something new built? Another extended ud? I think I saw on Facebook.

Hans are you living in Amsterdam? I get over there (Haarlem) sometimes to visit my wife's family. Maybe next summer.
