Pyramid Lute Strings on my Stenzel Oud

rojaros - 11-21-2014 at 04:33 PM

Hello, I did today a test recording with my Stenzel oud, now also equipped with Pyramid Lute Strings with wound c'c' and g'g'. High f'f' is Seaguar Premier fluorocarbon fishing line 0.41mm.

Comments are welcome:

HELLO ROJAROS BOTH ARE EXCELLENT
I PERSONALLY PREFER THE COPCUOGLO OUD IT IS MORE AUTHENTIC, DEEPER AND WARMER, THE FIRST SOUNDS MORE LIKE A LUTE
BUT IT IS A PERSONAL TASTE

Well, It's a bit difficult to compare: the Copcuoglu is over 20 years old and played a lot, Stenzel is maybe 3 years old and not played much, because I didn't have much free time. But each time I play the Stenzel, it opens up a bit. These new strings also lifted the oud a lot, I'm sure I'll play more in the time to come...

It is 60cm scale length 7 course. The strings have been calculated by Pyramid at 3 kg for cc/gg/dd/AA/FF/C tuning, but I put it down to bb/f#f#/c#c#/G#G#/EE/B, and that means that this part of the set is now nominally at around 2.7kg or little less.
The first course is ff (Seaguar Premier 0.41mm fluorocarbon line) but now ee. which makes it 3.771 kg

The oud takes it well, I think, there is no deformation of the top.

The Stenzel Oud sound clip miraculously diasapeared. I have to make a new one ... sorry! I'll be back in few days here.
