Hi everyone
this forum is awesome!
I am a beginner with the Oud but been playing guitar for 13 years.
Finally decided to go for it and buy one.
Wanted to share my experience...
First I bought a turkish oud from a seller named Misusult in ebay and got the most flimsy instrument, bridge fell off while tuning the 3rd string and
headstock followed shortly after... beware of them.
then ordered an Egyptian oud from Arab Instruments. cost me about 450$us.
I am not knowledgeable enough to say how good it is but in my humble opinion, it is well constructed and I've been enjoying my first steps in playing
the instrument immensely.
playabilty is great, really like the sound of it too. Got an old hard case with it and a brand new padded soft case.
so if you are after a new Oud this days, I think Arab instruments are the place to go. here is a link to the one I bought.

would love some comments and input as to where to get some good info and maqams etc.
Tought myself guitar so figured ill try and do the same.

That's good to know. I would love to try one of these Ouds out myself so I can give a more informed review of these instruments.
