Wow, I found an amazing Oud shop on a side street in Souq Waqeef. The maker is Iraqi and he makes several styles including Bashir ours. Beautiful
finishing work and ric sound. Also saw one his father made. Stupidly, I did not get his name or take pics (too much noon day sun I guess), but he's
there and would be worth seeking. Prices are 6000 rials or about 2000$

He must be Ala'a Fua'ad Jihad, whose father is one of the most renowned Iraqi makers in the last 50 years or so.
His brothers, Layth and Faris, are also good oud makers in Baghdad.
