Kurschner strings?

eezyfeez - 10-30-2015 at 12:40 PM

Might anyone know where I can buy Kurschner oud strings online? Or anywhere for that matter!

I ordered them once from Germany but by the time you pay for shipping you might as well buy gut strings. I loved the strings though and would buy them if I could get them around $20.00 usd a set.

I'm new to oud, and my instrument was already strung with Kurschners when I got it (and had an extra set in the case). As a long time guitar player though, I've spent the last couple of weeks trying strings out just to get myself familiar with tonal characteristics and feel. Comparatively, the Kurschners really stand out - at least to my ear and to what I like.

Thanks for the link though. looks like their is no shopping cart. No check out with paypal. Nada. Just a PDF with a bunch of gauges and prices. My extra set of K's reads, "c-arab2" but I don't see any reference to that in the PDF. Anyone know what this equates to on their sheet?

Below is the response Matthias had previously tried to post without success.
The issue has now been resolved.

Hello,

yes Kürschner himself does not have an online shop. But all of his sets you can find in mine at:
Music-strings online

The set name "c-arab2" is not known to me selling Kürschner strings for a long time. The actual 6-digits set numbers they are using lets say exist since around 4 years. before that they had 4-digits set numbers.
May be the "c-arab2" name is custom notation by the seller, maker of your instrument.

Best regards

Matthias

I bought kurschner strings directly from kurschner by emailing. They were shipped promptly and economically. I agree that they are the best strings for my Oud.

Hey Everyone,

I tried ordering some German made Kurshner oud strings and the total came to 178 Euros for 4 sets! Anyone know if there's any cheaper way to get these strings? And are they really that much better than other brands?
