Sensible shape, but you like working with wood whereas I prefer using recycled materials. I'd make it out of layers of corrugated cardboard - if I didn't have cats, that is. As it is, it would just be inviting the furries to use my oud as a scratching post. It stays in its case when I'm not using it.

I love it because it is meticulously handcrafted, like Oud itself .. But is the Oud stable on it,? Would it stop the Oud swinging sideways?

The oud is stable on it, dose not swing at all.
Till now everything is OK.

Wow, using French Polish on Veneer on pine plywood! I love it!

I have always had trouble with French Polishing, I'm always hoping to some day get good at it,
but meanwhile I brush the shellac on and then scotch-brite it to get a semi-matte finish.

Now I have a bigger job, a black Sukar that has the usual finish problems and want to use
a very dark shellac that comes waxy.

Dive right in? Use a sponge under the cloth?
