sources for the Makamat and seyir

wjames - 3-9-2016 at 02:26 PM

hello

I've been looking through old posts trying to track down sources on the Turkish makamat. most of the links don't seem to work, I wander if there are any up to date? particularly there is a copy of a PHD by scott marcuss which look invaluable. I think it is called arabic music in the modern period.
I'm currently writing my undergraduate dissertation on the modal structure of the greek taximi, if anybody knows any reliable sources on the dromoi which i might have missed id be very happy to hear from you.

cheers to you all

billy.

Hi Billy,

There are several seyirs on Adam Good's page, in case you haven't seen it...

I'm not aware of an equivalent for the Greek dromoi - have you tried the GTC (Greek-Turkish Clarinet) forum ( http://www.gtc-music1.com/ )? Lots of very knowledgable musicians over there too!
