Samir--is that the original soundboard in the first picture? The wood looks almost new, except of course for the crack. I guess my question is, if
that is the original soundboard, could something like that be repaired? Forgive my ignorance--I really do not know much about this.

hi
the original soundboard was dammaged by making it so thin in alot of areas and mainly in the front part of it as it appears.
the oud has been restored several times by some people..you are right , the original piece of such an oud must not be changed unless it has been
hopeless..
here is a pic shows how much it was dammaged from inside..
