rehab for a dry oud

From 2008 -2012 I worked as a music therapist in a large hospital.

The Hospital bought a pretty nice oud for my work there.

It is still there and has not been played since I left. It has been stored in a hard case, but I am sure it has not been properly humidified.

About a year ago I stopped in to visit and had a look, in the 5-7 minutes hat I had with the instrument I was not able to get it in tune, as I think the pegs where too loose in the holes ( due to being dryed out).

I am now thinking again of buying this oud (maybe for a new student) from the hospital. I am assuming that after storing it for a few weeks in a properly humidified room, it will be back to its old self.

Anyone have any experience to share regarding humidity rehab for a quality but neglected oud.
