I think it is a good solution. Seems to work, the result is here.
The only safety issue I hear is your child playing percussion with your oud :)))
Myself I use camelia oil or linen oil and a clean " sanding " with very very thin sanding paper. So thin we cannot actually speak of sanding. If really dirt I may clean it before the operation.
But your solution is fine I think. The tissue you are using is recommend to take off the fats coming from the finger. At least I heard that
best regards

Thank you for sharing, but I don't think this product is really effective in cleaning the fingerboard. I use mineral spirits with 0000 steel wool. I follow that up with mineral oil.

Thank you very much Suz_i_dil .. :) I learnt a lot from you bro !!

John .. I agree with you ... I was mainly experimenting & trying it out ... but I agree with you ... any specific mineral spirits ??

Everyone has their own tricks it seems.

I really cannot stand the smell of Mineral Spirits so I use pure lemon oil and a paper rag. If its really bad I will use some 0000 steel wool soaked with a bit of lemon oil.

I was told by Dmitris Rapaskosious recently NOT to use oils and instead to use an instant-drying cleaner (i guess like wd-40). Can someone confirm this for me? I am confused as to how to clean now!
