Kazaki Music

hello everyone ,
a kazaki friend of mine is getting married in about 2 months , so i was thinking maybe i could play some kind of a folklore song at his wedding with the oud , i really have no clue tho on how is the Kazakhstani music , so if anyone here has music sheets or a source of such i'd be grateful :)

They're a branch of the Turks, closer to the Turks' original homeland, and closer in culture and music to the ancient Turks than the Iranicized Turks of Anatolia are, so authentic Kazakh music is quite distinct from maqam music.

If it's authentic folk music, and not modern Kazakh pop music, you want, then sources are going to be difficult to find. I know there are some old soviet studies on Kazakh music with some notated tunes, but I can't come up with a title from memory and most of my books are in storage right now.

I'd enter "Kazakh folk music" in a Youtube search, if I were you, and try to find something you like that's not too obviously westernized or modernized.

Looks like the central national form is epic songs about Dede Korkut sung to the dombra.
