Saz string question

stephen faulk - 8-28-2017 at 10:16 PM

Hello,
Not sure if you can help me with this, but I have a Saz string question.

I built an electric saz for someone and I'm parsing thought regular electric sets to figure out the best string gauges to use to get Gg Dd AA tuning.

The scale is 80 cm. Any ideas on how to do this other than trial and error and going by feel? Any companies make electric sets for saz?

Thank you for any suggestions

I've tried that site, but for an instrument with a 80 cm scale is assumes the instrument is a bass and does not have a category for guitar strings on that scale length.

Here a photo of the project. It has a semi hollow body, and a standard P-90 pick up. I gave it a kind of 60's retro look. If I ever make another one I'll go with mechanical viola pegs and a shorter scale.

Any ideas about ready made strings sets still welcomed.

Hello,

for that shorter scale to me there are not known any ready made sets. The sets I offer are made for 86cm or 76 cm scales. But it will be no problem to find a custom made set for the instrument. Please contact me through my strings online shop at

best regards

Thank you, very helpful. The customer lives in Portugal and he will be happy to hear he can work with someone in Europe to figure out his string preference and order direct.
