my friend,
your dowel is not nearly long enough. that's furniture grade stuff you are using. it should be at least 3 inches in the neck and in the block. Also the neck block looks like plywood... maybe its best to use solid spruce for this.

I am afraid for the longevity of your instrument.

Hello friend !

You are very enthusiastic, thats good !
But keep in mind that it is not the number of instruments you build, but the quality of the instruments that makes you a good luthier.

Just take more time, this is no race, be patient. This forum also is dead so here's nothing to win.

Blessings

Interesting pictures of these old ouds! I also find it fascinating that in the first picture it looks like a chess board game to the right. Wow, I didn't know chess has been around so long...

*Picture one has strings to bridge with F cuts in soundboard, and what looks like two very small openings(smaller than i have seen before)
*picture two has strings to base of oud(iraqi style), and one main soundboard hole.
*picture three(ceramic plate) has strings to base and two upper small soundholes as well. Weird placements.

Which model will you choose? :) Exciting to see what you make, and as always, please upload a sound sample as I'd Love to hear how you have competed it.
