Oud Stands

Viking - 11-22-2017 at 10:39 AM

I haven't seen a post about oud stands in awhile - does anyone have any recommendations or know of any luthiers current making stands?

Thanks!

Hello!

How about my diy-stand? Have a look!

That's an idea, but I live in an apartment and don't have access to a space to put something like that together. Easier for me to just order...

I use a K&M 17541 acoustic guitar stand. It is not an "oud stand", it is made for acoustic guitars, but it works perfectly with my Egyptian oud.

As you can see on the picture, ouds with a deeper bowl might not work since they would touch the metal legs instead of resting on the padding. For my oud, there is just enough clearance (a few milimeters) so that the bowl doesn't touch the metal legs.

This is the exact model that I bought, with cork padding:

I think that this has come up before, but it would be wonderful if I could buy a stand like the ones used for display on the Maurice Oud Shop web pages (like this one, for example: http://www.mauriceoudshop.com/aseel-2915/)

I recently bought the stand Matthias was talking about. And I can say it is really perfect.
See the picture.

I tecently bought a Tanglewood GSA folding stand. Very light, adjusts for body thickness to take anything from a flatback mandolin to my Arabic-size oud.
