Zyriab Oud for sale. (SOLD)

SamirCanada - 11-27-2017 at 08:40 AM

Hello oud lovers.

I was sent a Zyriab oud for repair by Mike. It had been dropped and suffered some damage to the top.

I removed the rosette and part of top, re-glued the cracks and braces and glued back the rosette.

Its now in tip-top shape with minimal appearance of the damage.

some pictures and youtube below.

Samir, this oud is incredibly good. I owned the same model for a while. It sounds so great.

I think this oud is a total win. Good price, nice shape, adjustable action and incredible sound. It is even better than the other higher level ouds made by Ali Khalifa (the grandson) Zeryab.

I have one of these too and it seems to be the oud I play most. It is by far the most comfortable oud I've ever played. It's playability is amazing. It's sound is warm and soulful with a tone also delivering on the treble strings which is rare in this price range. Played with attack, quite near to the bridge you can hear the ancient spirit of oud sound. It was Omar Al-Mufti who introduced me to the modern Ali Khalifa sound. Thank you Omar, I've not looked back.

My pleasure Charlie.
As you described, this oud is so good.
I have tried at least 7 or 8 ouds from the same model (shami 1), few of them were with 57 mm strings length....funny that they all sound almost the same.
Ali Khalifa (zeryab) and before him Ibrahim Sukkar managed to successfully standardize ouds and provide very good quality for very reasonable price.

thank you guys. I am not allowed to have anymore ouds otherwise I would probably keep it. :)

its exactly as you describe and I completely agree with you Omar, since the Sukar ouds are no longer around these are the new standardized Syrian ouds.

Actually in my opinion these are much better than Sukar ouds.

Omar Al-Mufti - 12-4-2017 at 01:26 PM

I also agree with you Samir...their sounds are mellower than Sukkar ouds.

Yes I agree with you both, for years I was with my Sukar and now I've switched to the Zeryab more than I play the Sukar.

Samir, is this oud still available?

SamirCanada - 2-5-2018 at 11:38 AM

I am afraid it was sold. My apologies for not updating the thread.
