Longa Nahawand from Muscat Oud Festival

Chris-Stephens - 3-29-2018 at 01:53 PM

Hey guys, I've been listening to the Longa Nahawand by Salim Bin Ali Al Maqrashi from the Muscat Oud Festival but the entire album has been removed from Spotify, Amazon, Pandora, Youtube, anywhere online - even paid services.

Does anyone have this album and can point me to another version of the composition?

Also, any idea why this great album has been removed from all online streaming services?

Not sure if I am understanding you correctly, but the recording can be purchased through Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Al-Tarab-Muscat-Oud-Festival/dp/B000HT2J94 It's a bit pricey, and I don't like all parts of the program, but still totally worth it for the good parts.

Yes I saw that I can buy the CDs but I don't have a CD player. It's been removed from all online streaming services (including Amazon, https://www.amazon.com/Muscat-Oud-Festival-Various-artists/dp/B00A4C... ).

Do you know the version of Longa Nahawand on there? I can't find anyone else playing Al-Maqrashi's version, only the popular Turkish one.

Hello Chris,
Which piece are you talking about ?
Is it the second nummer in the list of the cd 'Al Tarab Muscat Oud Festival ' that John provides.
For me that longa was composed by Mamdouh al Gebaly.
Or we are not talking about the same piece.

Yes it's the second piece on the album. Thank you for telling me the composers name, now I should be able to find another recording of it!

A quick (Arabic) internet search [of لونجا نهاوند ممدوح الجبالي] turned up only 1 other version, on YouTube, and by a (very) non-professional oudist. Anyway, I am posting a score of the song.

All the best,
"Udi" John
