If you haven’t checked out his YouTube channel, give it a go. Here’s his latest offering. A medley of songs from all of Farid el-Atrache’s movies. Nice job bro!

Big thanks!

Of what I've seen so far, diggin' this studio taqsim of farido:

..Just sounds incredible in the lower registers..

sounds so much better than any modern strings I've heard, down there way low

anyone knows if it's wound string with silk core? (my guess)

Yeah! amazing apparent resonance. But this has been remastered and the sound has been "processed" with EQ and reverb. Farido's sound was drier than this. Part of the sound is also due to being tuned a bit low. Also the eagle risha contributes to the sound. Thanks for posting this. I enjoyed the music.

Big thanks Mike. I started the channel for my own covers and such, but then I got addicted to providing Farid videos in high quality. It's really a lot of fun. All the content is unique in some way. Whether it is improved sound, corrected pitch/speed, better picture, just a rare recording, or all of the above.

That brings me to the studio taqsim. You are correct Jody, I added some reverb and added a little bass. The bass was meant as a correction. The main improvement was correcting the mono sound that was blasting into one ear/speaker. It's a great taqsim, especially the second half where I feel he really starts getting into it. Thanks for watching.

I would add that it was the only time he ever used this oud. This isn't on one of his normal ouds. Probably a gift from Kuwait. Not only that, the middle D string is wound, which none of Farid's other ouds were. So the sound naturally will sound somewhat different than his other oud recordings.
