Could anyone give some clue?
I just put new strings, Kurschner high quality, but they do not slide well in the nut grooves. The tunig goes by steps.
I checked the nut, bone high precision, and rectified as possible for the new strings.
Thomastik (Austria) is famous for his smoother flatwound guitar and violin strings. I wonder if this exists also for the oud. (I'll ask to them)
This could also improove the sound.

I think you may have a problem with the grooves in the nut, rather than with the strings. Perhaps there is friction in the grooves. Try a bit of
graphite from a soft pencil. That might be enough to make the tuning smooth.

I kan try this, even if I took great care of the grooves with special tools.
After 3 days it's already a bit better.

The round tip pencil helps to smooth the surface as Jody suggested. After thar rub some dry soap into the grooves to works as lubricant.

Yes, I just did: perfect.
Since the nut is made of bone and is very good made, I would never believe it could be necessary.
Graphite was enough to solve the problem.
