Music teachers in Sweden for Arabic instruments other than oud?

yozhik - 5-8-2019 at 04:43 PM

I will be returning to Sweden soon and am wondering if anybody knows about any teachers there who teach other Arabic instruments, such as Arabic violin, qanun or ney?

Any leads would be appreciated.

They teach arabic rhythms (You mainly play tabla, but also riq, daf and more drums) at Malmö musikhögskola. Don’t think any other institution teaches arabic instruments but thare’s probably some private teachers in Sweden!

Kind regards,
David

You can try Ahmed Al-awadi who is an excellent Iraqi violinist who currently lives in Sweden.

Thank you both for these leads. I saw that Ahmad Al-jawadi also played in a band called Sumer Group, not sure if they are still active but will try to contact them.

I just started playing violin in Arabic tuning and would be interesting to have contact with other musicians playing Arabic music here in Sweden, even if I don't find a teacher in my area.

This is a separate topic, so I made a new post to address this:
