Oud Concerts in San Francisco

Where does one find out about oud concerts happening in the San Francisco Bay Area?

Dear Stimming,

Best place is probably Kutay Kugay's "Music of the World" program on KPFA-FM radio at 94.1 FM on Monday AM at 10 AM, and Stephan Kent's "Music of the World" program at the same place on Thurs 10 AM. They carry announcements of most of the world music events in the Bay Area, with lots of live guests, etc.

I have a e-mailing list for concert announcments that I'll be happy to put you on, if you send me your email address. I'm at hank@musicaravan.com.

I'll be performing on Friday, May 6 at Stanford University Library around 4 PM. I'll be doing Turkish classical insstrumental , art songs (sarkiler) and sufi ilahiler (devotional music), playing oud and ney with singer Natalie Hicks. You can get more info from the organizer, David Giovaccini at dggiova@stanford.edu

Maybe we'll see you there! --Hank Levin
