mmm, what can i say about Abadi ??
simply, he is my fav oud player after Farido.
like Farido, he is singer, composer and great oud player. he is a self-tough oudist, and he learned the oud at a young age (11)

well, i will post more info ans stories about him and the oud later, but for now, u can enjoy watching him playing oud

here is one of Abadi's songs that he sang on oud in the 1980's, still he didnt release this ong and i dont know why.
anyway, he took the first part of the introduction in another song in 1990's (i will post it later to compare them).

anyway, enjoy the first 3 minutes on oud, then listen to the song. :xtreme:

here is a very old taqaseem of abadi. he is playing Farido's taqaseem.

this taqaseem recorded in 1977, yes, before 26 years.

in this taqaseem check the time from 0:34 to 0:38, he is hitting the face of the oud (as in the eqaa`) at the same time while he is playing oud (oud + eqaaa` at the same time) :bowdown:

well, i am not sure about that oud, but from what i know that Shehatah is one of the fav oud makers for Abadi, he boought many ouds from him (which is BTW custom made only for him)

Good morning gentlemen and good question Ronny. I have seen at least two ouds on the Net that Abadi was playing that were more than likely Shehata Ouds. I'm not sure that this one is though. The shape isn't typical of Shehatas current ouds. The bottom was flat on this one. But it does sound really nice, and he makes it sound nicer. :applause:

guys, there is another thing i want to tell u, abadi and Fardio ae sharing one thing (beside the oud playing), the oud makers from egypt are giving them ouds to promote for themselves (marketing), but the ouds that Abadi like are few, and they are custom made just for him.

do u know that Abadi has one oud that is made before 90 years, and guess whos oud is that, it is el qasabji oud. yes, he found it in of the shops he really liked the sound of that oud, after he bought it, he found out that it is one of el qasabji ouds. (and to know why el qasbji ouds are special and hard to find, check the thread i made before about el qasabji)

to be honest with u, i like the tarab taqaseem of abadi more than the Spanish taqaseem. do u know that even abadi said tha many tmes he prefer to play the tarab taqaseem more, but he is alwys playing the spanish taqaseem becuse the audince like it and they want to hear it all the time.

You know it's amazing that every time abadi plays El Aspania it's with a different tone and style. I guess it shows that he is capable of controling the oud. But as you said even Abadi hates playing cause people in every concert, evern if they see him on the street ask him to play. A freind of mine told me that one time in Jeddah on a very buisey traffic on Thursday they spotted Abadi driving and people just gathered and surprsingly one of them took a oud from his car and asked Abadi to play but there was no pick, and when Abadi played to them they said it was amazing how he could play the oud with no pick which is very hard only few people like Farid, Munir Basheer and few other have that capabilty, I thought I would share this story with you guys even though I don't know if it true or not, but I won't be surprised if it is

khalid, the singer in that clip is abadi, it is a very old recording (from 1970's). in the same jalsa, he also sang talal madah's song (mashgool we shagelni).

I'm glad that you're interested in hearing Abadi play. The clips were up about a month ago, but due to the growing size of the forum, Mike took down some files so that we could put up some even greater things in the future. I'm sure elrabee3 still has all the files, and would be willing to send them to you. If not, give me a day or two and I will try to do the same.

that video is the only one availbe online, but there many many sound clips of Abadi's Taqaseem, but u said you wanted video, the only other videos of him playing the oud that I have is 2 spanish and about 5 songs on the oud, so let me know, but I have many taqaseem on real player

Abadi Al Johar is an amazing oud player, but still the media is not giving what he deserves, he's one of those few people who manages to gets you in the mood to grap your oud and play along, that's real Tarab, yes Nasir Shamma is a great player, but he's serious, he wants silence when he plays, Abadi react with the people and plays us wonders in his magical oud, here is a song for you guys

This a song that I came across, if by now you don't know, but Abadi was born, and still lives in his home town Jeddah, in Saudi Arabia, it's a nice city with alot to offer, and the people over got exposed to differnt culture, so it's quite intersting, Abadi is singing for Jeddah

Khalid, there is a song of Abadi called "ya ajmal el koon", the song also abut Jeddah, it is one of the BEST song i'v ever heard. it is on oud, i used to have that song, but since my Hard drive crashed i didnt find it on the net.

I am not from Jeddah, to put a long story short I am half Egyptian, quarter Tunsian, and quarter Sudanese, but no one beleives the sudanese part because of my color, but from my mom side, they root back to Al Utban familey from Madina, and my dad from Turkey along the borders with Syria, so you can say I am a unverisal man, but now I live in New York.
Actually my parents still live in Saudi Arabia, in Riyadh, and by the way I visted Dubai al dar al 7ai before, as well as Sharja, Al ain, and Abu Dhabi, it's a beautiful country, I may visit UAE after I graduate this year

Just wondering if any of Abadi 'Die Hard Fans' el Johar in here have those clips from ART or similar Arabic TV programme showing him playing the Oud in a group with other musicians (arabic drummer, keyboardist n clappers etc.)?

I've seen once on ART showing them playing n singing but fortunately too late for me to record the show! I also seen Marcel Khalife doing live concert in a out door hall but not sure where it was taken from.

Zulkarnin I have seen many of those Jalsat for Abdadi on TV but dunno which link has them, but I think most of the stuff on the web we almost have here in the forum, but I might be mistaken, now there are clips for other singers on Jalsat such as Abdul Mageed Abdullah and Abdulla Al Ruaished

ok if u wanna buy like record albumes, my favorites are:
Jalsat Tarab93, Jalsat Tarab95,96,98
those are among my favorite for abadi
also back when I used to live in Riyadh, they use to sell like those private jalsas for abadi, which was really great, but I don't think they sell em online

Zulkarnain, i will try to send u the list of abadi songs. well not all of his songs, cus this is really hard, becuse he started singing in 1968, and from that year until 1985, the law of "rights protection" wasnt issued in the Saudi Arabia, so all of those songs from those years are hard to find as original albums. in 1985, abadi started his own prodction company "Awtar", and started to release his ongs form his company. many of his old songs he re-presnted them in differnt form (like some of them were in music he released them again on oud , and the oppesite, also he released many of his old songs in his 1980's albums).

by now, here is somthing for all of you.

if u r looking for some nice songs of abadi on oud from his original albums (not the special jalsat), try these:
-Hobr we warag album (aka album No. 1, becuse this the first album Abadi released in his company in 1985, amazing songs, amazinf oud playing, and his voice.. simply perfect)
-Jalsa 8, has songs like erfna ba`ad beltayeb, mali fel tayeb nasee, kelma walow jaber khater, etc..
-jalsa 14, has songs like, Rahaal, allah maa`ak, etc..
-jalsa 7, "Must have", many great songs, like jalsa 1, gadeeti shams, yallaye golli wainaha, hrjli, etc..
-the jalsa which has songs , Manai, ma ala el dnya atab, jet tewadee`ni, etc..
-Jalsaa 12, has the songs like Galo tara, lelail ahbek
-Jalsa 18, endak khaar, ana ahbek, etc..
- the jalsa which has the songs , wagef el ayam and elalam
-Abadyat (one of my all time fav albums, just abadi and oud, perfect for late nights)
