strings too bright

mysticoud - 9-25-2005 at 12:16 AM

Hi everybody,

Sorry if this has been brought up already.

I have been using LaBella strings because they are easy to find and relatively cheap, but the nylon courses are way too bright. The differences, in sound, between the wound strings and the nylon strings are too noticeable. Is there a better brand of string?

Thanks.

Hi,
i suggest you the Aquila strings. For the treble they use Nylgut (that is Mimmo Peruffo of Aquila invention...) the recreates the sound of real gut but without its problematics like difficult tuning and short life...The wound still have inside a nylgut core....
By the way i find also fine with Tomastick wich are quite soft, but for the nylon i always chenge them with Aquila...
salamat

Thank you Elias, I will try Aquila. I figured I'd ask somebody who knows something about oud strings before I go out and spend $100 trying to find a good set.
Thanks again.
