Material List for a new oud

gooray - 10-18-2005 at 12:14 PM

Hi everyone, i want to make my own oud and Jameel's site encouraged me to do. Shortly I need a full list of wood for the oud and the drawings for how i will shape them. That will help me and other beginners very much. Thanks already...

gooray,

Good luck on your first project. I'm flattered by your comment.

Before I list any materials, I recommend buying Richard's book. Don't start without it.

The book is sold exclusively from the book store website and can be shipped internationally. Information about the book is found here with examples of the content and a gallery of ouds completed by users of the book.

I live in Istanbul. And Richard, there happens some problems for international deliveries to Turkey like customs and taxation. It needs a lot of time and money. At last I have decided to draw the plans myself from my oud. I will send the pictures when i finish them.

If you live in Istanbul call me at o 532 648 2411 and I will direct you to the oudmakers with whom you will learn the art of oud making. You will need no books.
