Unbelieveable!! You guys are too good! I guess my sad playing can be detected in any form! But how about that old sound? Covers all the mistakes. :D

Yes! Jameel YES!
Thats what Iam talking about... Aiwa Aiwa
Shou Tayeb.

Any info on how you got that old sound?
Did you travel back in Time? since you can make ouds like that, I know better then to doubt anything comming from you ;)

I supect the strings got tuned down a little to or am I mistaken?

Your playing is far from sad.
Its just that i was watching the video of you playing your oud, and i recognize your style.
Nice job on the old school sound, and thank god it was you or i would have sounded pretty stupid ;)

Samir,

First I tuned my strings down half a step (I did that about a week ago because I don't care for the higher tension, I'm using Aquilas--but soon to be Pyramid Lute). Then I did whole bunch of effects with Adobe Audition. I further lowered the tuning, tweaked the EQ, added some reverb and echo, a bit of distortion. If you want, I can do this to a recording of yours if you email it to me.

Oudman, Thanks, but this wasn't very good taqasim. I was just practicing and noodling around yesterday with the recorder on, and this couple minutes ended up sounding ok, so I used it. It has some sequences in it that I was practicing, that's why it's so repetitive, it doens't flow very well. Can you hear how the old-school effects smooth out the mistakes. That's why I like it!

Here's a link to the original. This track only has some reverb added, no EQ. Aquila strings tuned down (415hz) I recorded this directly with my computer (patching through my portable minidisc, through to my component minidisc deck, then to the soundcard--It's a bit convoluted, but it's the only way I can get my mic hooked up to the soundcard) and a set of Sound Professionals Binaural Mics and Adobe Audition.
