It's time to make an oud by scientific bases.

According to the scientific bases that the masters of this forum dictated I'm planning to construc a new oud. Pfotos will be available after some time.
The bowl will be made of walnut and rose wood. The top from spruce and the other parts from ebony.

What you mean by scientific basis mr Tayfun?.
wil you be posting pictures here?

By scientific bases means to me that ı especialy want to build a bass response loud oud and more sustain. For this purposes we must know the tonal responses of woods for bowl. Hard and smoth woods together, only hard woods(high density) or only smooth woods(low density). Also what kind of supruce on the face if we use a hard wood like wenge. I think a soft spruce will be ideal for wenge.
After this we must solve the problem ? Which braces corrseponds to which string. Opss ? Masters do u realy know? Scientific bases must respond and explain this questions.
Sincerely.

Friends,
This thread seems to have faded from the board here but, perhaps, is still active among the members first initiating it. In any case I have recently come upon a resource that may be of interest to readers in this area. It can be found at:
http://www.journalofguitaracoustics.com available as "Journal of Guitar Acoustics Complete Unabridged Collection with Addenda". While this is a guitar-focused publication, it seems that much of the subject matter in the index could be relevant to builders-of-ouds. I have not forked over the $90 yet for the publication but expect to do so shortly. If I manage to free up the funds, I will post a review here shortly after giving the 700 pages a decent read.

There's a new discussion group of Yahoo called:
leftbrainluthiers@yahoogroups.com
It seems to be populated by some serious builders with a scientific orientation. You may find it of interest.
