Hello experts
I bought a turkish oud last month and after i have been on this site, i find out that oud can be tuned in different ways 
i have tuned mine to: D-G-A-D-G-C
I like it the D bass.
I also changed the D string to nylon string, but it sounds not so good. Before the sound of my oud was very high and clear, now it sounds good, but
not high and clear.
if i order pyramid string og labella, will this solve my problem, and get my oud to sound clear?? I still want to keep this tuning i have now..

Hi, enjoy your new oud. I think Pyramid would be best, they are a little heavier than Labella, and would match better with the tuning you have
chosen.
Try different brands though, each player has their own preference.

I read somewhere that Pyramid strings aren't made for Turkish Ouds, they say the oud is too delicate and the strings may damage the Oud somehow.

hi.
pyramid makes strings for arabic oud and turkish oud, they are different. the turkish style are a little heavier than the la bella turkish strings,
but i personally like that, and it's not so high a gauge as to endanger the instrument. many people use labella strings, but then take heavier
classical guitar strings for the two treble courses.
it's really a matter of preference, as long as the tension isn't too great, and the turkish pyramid strings are just fine in my opinion,
especially for a lower tuning.

On pyramids site they have strings for arabic and tyrkish oud. But can I use the arabic strings? because i want the D string in nylon?? Do you know
the different between the 3 colors?

Hi Ziad.
Honestly, I think the Arabic sets are too heavy for a Turkish oud. They're designed for a longer necked instrument than the Turkish oud (in
general, Turkish ouds are shorter than Arabic ouds).
If you would like to have custom sets made to your own preferences, I'm sure they'll do that.

Finally I got my strings which i ordered from juststring "US" and Pyramid "gr".
I have learned never to order anything from usa, because here in denmark they take a high taxes for everything imported from usa. :-)
Anyway, the Labella strings are good, but the pyramid "Red" is perfect to my turkish oud. They sound clear, but a little difficult to play
on. They also work perfect with my egypt oud.

I used DAddario on my turkish oud, but tunned to arabic. FGADgf.. This was ok but not the best.
Later after I talked to the guys here I tried both Labella and Pyramid, with great result. Pyramid sounds great, clear and high. I tunned my oud to
DGADgc, and since i changed to pyramid strings on my turkish, I havent touched my egypt and syrian oud

Im thinking of changing the Addario to Pyramid on my new Turkish oud too-Im tunning low to high C F A D G C (arabic)

I use the D'addario for my syrian type oud....I like theyr sound very much...
Now I ordered some strings from Turkey for my Turkish ladies...
,I have played an
other oud with those strings and I can say that it was very nice sounding with them...
I will try them and I will tell you my opinion too....

I have ordered the three colors, and im using the red now. Pyramid strings are unique, they are different from all the strings i have tried. They
sound great and clear, but they dont hold the tunning as other strings. I have to tune my oud every singel time I play...

Hi. I don't have that problem with Pyramid strings. Do you think it might be your climate affecting them?
btw, I know I've said it before, but I hope you're not using arabic gauge strings for the turkish oud. I think that's too heavy,
especially over the long term.

Im using arabic strings on my turkish. But i cant find it heavy.. The only reason is, i want to keep arabic tunning DGADGC..

Dear friend Nadir,
I don't think that you will have a problem with your strings,but....DON'T TRY TO PUT THE OUD WITH THOSE STRINGS ON THE TURKISH
TUNNING....you will destroy it
