Many thanks Samir, I hadn't seen that one before. Not really my cup of tea though - I prefer his taqasim CD. I notice that he has made the full-length
tracks available on his website, so until his CD is more widely available I guess I will have to make my own.

There's actually a complete video interview of him on the zeryab forum.
I do prefer him also to Shamma, if only for being less pretentious, considering I haven't heard much from either.
Speaking of iraqi oudists, there was only one reply to the Ali Al Imam thread. I posted a video taksim of him on youtube a while ago.David Parfitt - 7-19-2006 at 08:52 AM
Are there any more taqsims of either Ali Hassan or Ali al-Imam on the Zeryab site/forum?

Hey David,
One of the members of the zeryab forums (I believe) had the opportunity to interview Ali Hassan. It's a lengthy interview and has him playing the oud
in it and such. I think if you go to their forums and type in Hassan, that will turn up.
As for Ali al-Imam... there are a few threads on that site that have some of his stuff. I think 2 or 3 videos are in one of the threads, and a few
sound files in another. Typing Imam in the search may get you somewhere.

Thanks TP. I registered on the Zeryab site today, so I'll do some searching on there tomorrow and see what turns up.
All the best

yup, TP is right.
In addition, they have some Khalid Mohammad Ali (another excellent iraqi oudist), a good amount of Sabsaby (who happens to be a member), and some
Mamdooh Gebaly.... and so on....
Really a huge amount of oud music there. (I've been a member since eternity, and I still don't know what else is there).David Parfitt - 7-21-2006 at 07:37 AM
Hi oistrach
For those of us whose knowledge of Arabic is limited, would it be possible to give a few links to pages on the forum where we can find these clips?
(Especially Khalid Mohammad Ali)
Thanks
Davidoistrach13 - 7-22-2006 at 12:12 AM
I most certainly can, but you'd have to be able to download them, which means you need ten posts there behind you. You can contribute freely in
english, so don't worry.
About the oud, there is a really huge thread there, dedicated to all great oud players, modern and past, it's in english (considering it's maintained
by a German), and it has a link to the Khalid Mohammad Ali on page 27 (two pages before the end).
Thanks to our german friend, most oud music has been linked to in that thread, as well as english names and explanations secured for most of those.
