I have found myself the owner of an OUD and know NOTHING about them. It was given to me with no strings and I think it is missing a little horizontal
piece at the top of the neck where the strings would lay on when they bend over toward the tunning pegs. I am going to attach a picture to show you
all and if any of you could confirm this it would be great...if it is missing where in the world do I go to get it repaired living in Tulsa, Ok?? or
where can I get parts to do it myself?? I am a music teaching and think it is beautiful and really want to restore it, and learn how to play. Do any
of you know by the pictures what kind of OUD it is? Well...any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Your oud appears from the design to be Syrian or Egytian. The back design is typical of Syrian ouds, but the face seems more likely to be of Egyptian
origin. The label will probably tell you if you read Arabic, or find asome one who can.
The piece missing is the top nut or string guide or carrier. It can be made from a guitar top nut, available from any guitar store. It will need to be
cut it down, shaped and grooves made to guide the strings from the fingerboard to the pegs using a small round jeweler's file. This could be
done by a competant guitar repair technician.
The fingerboard also appears to be missing. Ebony is a good choice although other hard woods, phenolic and fiberglass can be used.

Is it just me or is he missing a peg? I'm counting 10... shouldn't there be 11 or 12 depending on the oud??
