Very interesting presentation! Thanks for the link. Could someone offer a short resume for translation?

And pardon my ignorance: what is Sharqi? (in this context, probably not "a special kind of wind in Middle East", like Wikipedia tells us! ;-)

Sharqi usualy referers to the region of the levent. Lebanon, syria, palestine, jordan etc..

I think what he seems to refer as one group named sharqi. Is the oud playing style that derived from the Egyptian school of the oud which influenced the oud playing in many regions like the maghreb, the levant, and the gulf.

May be there are other schools like magrebis, east african and yemen, iranian...
May be sharqi influence maghreb as well as vice versa, maghreb influenced sharqi.
I liked the presentation.

BTW, this may be appreciated by Oudplayer

Riadh Iam with you. :D

Zalzal: dont you think he is making it seem so simple and strait forward... there are other schools for sure. I dont know about the maghreb much but in the gulf they play oud like nowhere else.
