In case you are not aware of it, Simon Shaheen is once again leading the Arabic Music Retreat at Mount Holyoke College in western Massachusetts. This
year's retreat will run from August 11-18, 2007.
The master-level Oud faculty includes Sakher Hattar of Jordan, Bassam Saba of New York and William Shaheen of California.
Last year we had about 25 oud players in the mix.
It's a great place to ramp up your technique, swim deep in the ocean of the maqamat, play until your fingers are killing you, and to just 'do oud' for
a week. Many members of the Oud Forum are repeat alumni.
