This is Arabic tuning by the way on a turkish oud.

Hi Chris!:applause:
What can I add with what had been said, apart from that I really love this oud, and I would be glad if you could tell how much did you paid, and where did you buy it. And what about the "guitar-like" pegs on the neck? Does it works well? I guess it must be just great as I have so many problems of tuning with my sukar oud, the pegs and the wood at the end of the neck are not that good and I always have to tune it all the time, with many intonation problems. Can you tell us which model of Haluk is this: the oud-4, oud-1 or oud-3?
Thanks!

Benjamin - 11-18-2007 at 03:35 AM

Also could you send a more detailled pic of the pegs, I mean a picture of the end of the neck where you can see the pegs and the strings?
I would be very happy! Benjamin

hi Benjamin

Chris_Khouri - 11-18-2007 at 01:34 PM

Hi Benjamin,

The pegs are very sturdy. They probably reduce the amount of tuning you need to do to less than 10%. There was no problem with the weight of the metal pegs as some people have mentioned this in the past. They r normal and do not cause me any hardship while playing.

My oud is Model 3, which is for 379 USD. Shipping will probably be about 120, so the whole thing would be about 500 dollars.

Here is the website

I will post picture of the pegbox very soon.

and enjoy your new oud Hilal

Sazi - 11-19-2007 at 11:34 PM

Erm... on the website it says oud 4 has Ebony fingerboard...

Haluk - 11-20-2007 at 05:13 AM

Ebony is an imported wood.Sometimes I use Rosewood, Rose of Madagascar or Balsam after informed the customer.
