Hi Everyone,
I would like to introduce myself to everyone on the forum. I have just joined, but have been visiting the site and reading your posts for quite a while now! I thought it's about time I joined.

I am new to the oud and I am trying to teach myself using on-line stuff and some books. It's coming together slowly, but still a long way to go...

I just want to thank you all for this great forum, which has really helped me.

I have attached photos of my Shehata. I am also travelling to Turkey later this year and luckily Mr Faruk Turunz is building a Grand Concert Model for me!

Anyway I just wanted to say "Hi" to you all.

P.S anyone live in Perth Australia??

Hi Jason,

Welcome! Beautiful Shehata - very clean lines, lovely colors in the ribs... I've only been playing for about a year and a half, and these forums have been immensely helpful. All the best to you as you proceed in the world of oudism!

Dan

Dear DanielH and Alan_Mardan

Thanks for the response guys!

Yes I'm very happy with my Shehata, which I got through JT. It has a great sound and a real joy to play. It is a much, much better (and louder) instrument than my first oud!

As you know the sound difference you get from an oud made by a skilled luthier is just amazing! I'm not rolling in money but I reckon it's worth the investment! Because I play saxophone, I'm used to paying those prices (and more). My brother's a guitarist and he thinks it's amazing that you can get a custom artist quality oud by the world's top luthier at those prices! I agree - and they sound better than a guitar too ;-)
