Hi,, I am new to the forum, I have been a proffesioanl musician on and off for many years and I fancied getting an oud , I have been offered one by a guy who has one from a syrian company Al-dmashky? I really dont know a huge amount about the various oud makers yet but a web search didnt turn up anything from this maker, Its a floating bridge one, ( i am left handed and wanted a floating bridge so i could get the intonation right,, any help great appreciated, cheers Josh (UK)

Never heard off
The handwriting Arabic says the bowl is walnut the top is spruce and it's a floating bridge.

I'd say beware, if no-one's heard of them before. Also, the fact that it's a company name and not attributable to an individual luthier is a bit disconcerting. Please see various recent threads in the buy and sell section for scary stories of lute buying from unknown persons.

By the way, you probably spotted this, but the pic on the label is of a European lute, not an oud.
