Images of my new Abo Ala Oud

AboBasem - 4-23-2009 at 11:49 PM

Hi All,
I am very happy to join this fantastic forum and this amount of Oud and experts and lovers.
Here are images for my new Abo Ala Oud. This is not my first Oud. I have also another simple Egyptian that I used to learn the basics myself.
Now, using the new Oud, I've started my official Oud lessons and started to achieve more advance in this area.

Hi AboBasem :wavey:

welcome to the forums!!

Wow, that is a very nice one. Are the fret-inlais on the fingerboard just decoration or do they help to locate the right tone?

I`d love to hear how"she" sounds!! Please post a soundfile if possible.

Greetings from germany to you and the cute little boy (Your son?)!!

Marcus

Hi Marcus,
Thanks for the warm welcoming. The markers on the fingerboard are closer to be decorative, however, I could locate some points that found to be beneficial to make sure I am on the right tune. So it helps especially at this stage of my Oud learning.
I'll post here some recordings when they are finished, maybe also for my teacher, hope this will happen soon.

Yes that is my son Basem, and he loves the Oud also (actually he has two "tiny Ouds")
Cheers,
AboBasem

Congratulations!
And thanks for the pictures..
This is a very nice oud you have. Play it in good helth, and play it well.

Mabrook,
there is a "brother" of your oud which I have seen some time ago at Abo Ala,
the Zand is made out of Bone, and I think the back is Nut and Maple (I'll double check it with Abo Ala).

amir_s - 4-26-2009 at 02:38 AM

the back

amir_s - 4-26-2009 at 02:39 AM

the front

amir_s - 4-26-2009 at 02:47 AM

just asked Abu Ala, the back is made out of Cherry and Mahogany, and the front is Spruce (not as I indicated before)

AboBasem - 4-26-2009 at 03:25 AM
