Does any one know what tunings and how many strings the great
Farid el-Atrache uses on his ouds?

If I'm not mistaken, he used 5 strings. And his tuning varies from what I've seen. I do know, though, that for one of the tunings, he used
EADGC. Hope that answers your question.
