Not Oud-related but a MUST LISTEN
Mike,
I'm sorry that this is not Oud related. As you know, I can't contribute to oud related topics, since I don't know how to play it :-(
However, following this site, I know people here love real tarab and enjoy listening to great music.
I have come across a young lady on the web, 29 years old, who sings some of Om Kulthoum's oldies in a way beyond expression. Her name is Dorsaf
Hamdani; please listen to her:

She sings three songs that are posted on the left on the above website.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Such a voice and performance are unheard of in these days.
Sorry again that the topic is not related to Oud playing.

Hey Luay,
Welcome my man. No apologies necessary bud. We all love tarab! And especially for the great Om Kalthoum. I'll check her out now.
Thanks for the link,
Mike

I sent an email to the address on the website, asking whether a CD or CDV has been released but haven't heard back from them! I couldn't
download the songs either -- just listened to them and watched the video clips.
I did a Google search for her name as well, but didn't got anywhere!

Hey guys,
Dorsaf is excellent Luay! Thanks again for the link my friend. Now I want to share a few tracks of a CD I bought recently. Lubna Salameh performed in
Southern California last Thursday with some members of the Arab Israeli Orchestra (the ones that were able to get visas to the States in time I
guess...so it was closer to a takht than orchestra...but it was still excellent). Anyway, these tracks don't really do her justice even. I
thought she was more "on" last week. What I like is that even though she sings for Om Kalthoum, she isn't trying to imitate her. Her
own interpretation is great, and like I said, I thought she did a better job last Thursday, if you can imagine that. Okay, enough
yapping....here's Enta Omri and Al Atlal. Oh, this CD is also available through the MAGDA website (the same one you can get the great Sameer
Makhoul CD). I'll look for the link later though.
Take care,
Mike

Didn't have to look too hard. Here is the link for the CD at the MAGDA store. It is actually two CDs up from Sameer's Athar CD. Scroll all the way to the bottom.
