Premium service? With all the irritation they cause with the deliberate delays, and the ridiculous ads, like "need a girlfriend?", I would NEVER give the jerks at 4Shared a single penny!

Thanks David!

Why don't you use Firefox + Adblock Plus ? On my screen no more stupid ads... I recognize it's a little bit slower than Google Chrome. Nevertheless I prefer Firefox for dictionaries too !

I wanted to share the whole book but it's about 900 Mo and 4shared is limited, 200 Mo. Tell me if you want me to send to you the whole book via e-mail. It took me a few hours to download the 610 pages from http://imgbase-scd-ulp.u-strasbg.fr/displayimage.php?album=832&...

About 180 € the CDROM ! I'm sure you won't buy it ;)

hello, David
I hear you are a specialist of the maqam "RAST", I am trying to improvise on this maqam as suggested by a friend, can you help, I know that improvising is something personal, but I find it hard to understand the "rules" for improvising in Arabic or Eastern music, I manage to improvise in the AJAM maqam because I was "directed" by a teacher who is now busy and abroad, it may sound suprising but he guided my improvisations and I got some confidence....with the Ajam on C, can you do anything, thanks, and best regards, bien chaleureusement, Martino

Right now I'm working on:

http://www.mikeouds.com/audio/real/george_abyad_rast.rm

I've got the Samai which is more about Suznak than Rast and I've decrypted the impro. Still need to learn the outro then I'll give an analysis in real time like:

http://www.mikeouds.com/messageboard/viewthread.php?tid=10046#pid67...

http://www.mikeouds.com/messageboard/viewthread.php?tid=9746

I prefer to not dissipate my efforts and stick on one piece of music with a deep study. I hope you'll give your own impressions in real time when I'll start!

Hi, I am trying to imrovise on RAST, as a beginner, can anyone supply a few "musical phrases"? Iknow this may sound odd but I really imrovise on HIJAZ in a beautiful way sometimes because a friend gave me a few phrases to start with some time ago, thanks, martino

Hi martino,

You should create a new thread, this one is about "Essai sur la musique ancienne et moderne", only French oudist will open it! And not to speak about Rast...

BTW, you can use most of the maqamat over there to modulate: http://www.maqamworld.com/maqamat/rast.html

You need to learn a few accidentals and the rest is art!

Good luck for your next takasim :airguitar:
