6 strings oud

Hi,

I just bought a new oud that has 6 strings. I'm used to play 5-string ouds tuned CGDAG, i would appreciate any help in answering the following questions:

1) Can i just get rid of one string? if yes, which one?

2) Where i can buy a set of strings for the 6-string oud?

thanks

Hi,

You could add another set of strings, so tune like this from lowest to highest:

C G A D G C <- new course

Or to go back to what you're used to, of course you could just use 5 courses and tune the same way. You would just need to adjust the strings in one direction or another on the bridge and on the pegs.

Take care,
